Accelerated implementation of the FAST-Infra Label

The FAST-infra Label is deepening and broadening its assessment methodology beyond the new and renewable energy sector. For several months now, the FAST-Infra Label team at the Global Infrastructure Basel foundation, headed by Louis Downing, has been working on a cross-sectoral framework to enable labelling to be offered for all types of infrastructure.

For greater transparency and to obtain new points of view, the team has put out for consultation the results of its work, which are the pillars of its labelling approach:
– the dimensions and criteria governing its methodology,
– the methodology itself,
– the rules that trained verifiers must apply to label projects (after project self-assessment).

If you are a financier, constructor, operator or infrastructure developer, do not hesitate to read these documents and give your opinion, so that this label meets your needs.

Find out more about the public consultation open until March 15, 2024.

The FAST-Infra Label team has also set up the first training courses for assessors and verifiers. Once an infrastructure project has obtained the label corresponding to its self-assessment, the project is encouraged to seek verification by an independent third-party organisation in order to obtain the label.

The training programme aims to:
– Guide future assessors through the requirements and criteria with which infrastructure projects must comply in order to be eligible for the label;
– Present the role and use of the label’s data repository;
– Provide the tools needed to verify that infrastructure projects meet the requirements of the FAST-Infra label.

Finally, it is also an opportunity for infrastructure professionals to expand their network: this training should be the catalyst for the creation of a “community of practices” bringing together verification bodies supporting the promotion of sustainable infrastructure.

● The next session, lasting a total of 16 hours, will take place from May 7 to 9, 2024.
Register here before March 15, 2024!

“…we are not reinventing the wheel…”

In the second video from the three-part video series, CEO Louis Downing of the Global Infrastructure Basel (GIB) Foundation explains how FAST-Infra Label as a meta-label doesn’t just duplicate existing standards; it synergises with them, streamlining regulatory processes for project developers from the get-go.
